The Sustainable Built Environment (SBE) National Research Centre
When the Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation wound up on the 31 st of December 2009 more than $60 million had been invested over eight years, drawn largely from the federal sphere with state government and industry project partners including the Department of Public Works.
The Sustainable Built Environment National Research Centre (SBE) commencing in early 2010, is expected to continue the momentum created by the CRC for Construction Innovation. The centre’s goal is to build an enduring value-adding national research and development centre in sustainable infrastructure and building with a research and knowledge exchange portfolio geared to emerging industry priorities.
The SBE will apply cross-disciplinary approaches to improve the environmental, social, and economic performance of the built environment, focusing on commercial and public investment in buildings and infrastructure, across the following three research programs:
> Greening the Built Environment
> Developing Innovation and Safety Cultures
> Driving Productivity through Procurement.
