Consultants - PQC Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to be prequalified to be awarded commissions relating to government building projects?
Yes - Government departments will be required to use only prequalified consultants where the consultancy fee is:
- $30,000 or higher; or
- less than $30,000 and the service risk rating is 3 or 4.
Will I get government work by being prequalified?
Prequalification makes you eligible to compete for government building consultancies, it does not guarantee work. You must still go through the submission, review and acceptance process.
Can I upgrade my PQC level?
Yes. You may, at any time, apply for accreditation to higher levels.
Can I change the service activities I am prequalified for?
Yes, at any time.
Can I be downgraded or removed from the PQC register?
Yes. Removal from, or downgrade on, the PQC register can be made at any time once it becomes apparent that the consultant is unable to satisfy any or all of the prequalification criteria for the prescribed level, or for any other requirement with which the consultant may be required to comply.
How will I find out what level of prequalification I have attained and am registered for?
You will be posted an official notification of your prequalification registration status.
How long will it take to confirm by PQC assessment?
Allow 1 month for processing and official notification.
How will the risk rating for each commission be determined?
The PQC Service Risk Rating is determined according to the nature and complexity of the service being sought. Further information is contained in the guideline Consultant PQC: Service Risk Assessment.
Is there a fee associated with prequalification?
No. Applying for prequalification is free.
Do my responses relate only to Queensland Government building projects?
No. Your responses are to be based on all building project commissions undertaken by you in all your areas of operations.
Can I seek PQC registration for a consortia or joint venture with another or other consultants?
Yes. Consortia or joint ventures between consultants seeking to take on commissions larger than each could achieve alone is facilitated by the PQC System. In this way skills and knowledge are able to be transferred and used in a manner which benefits all parties concerned.
