About the Maintenance Management Framework (MMF)

What is it?

The Maintenance Management Framework (MMF) is the whole-of-Government policy for managing building maintenance. The MMF comprises the policy document and a series of associated guidelines and policy advice notes.

Why have it?

The State of Queensland owns and uses billions of dollars worth of building assets. These assets must be properly and systematically maintained so that they continue to support the delivery of a wide range of government services which fulfill the social, economic and environmental needs of the community.

Who does it apply to?

The MMF was approved by Executive Government on 28 June 1999 and came into effect on 1 July 1999. It applies to all departments (as defined in section 8 of the Financial Accountability Act 2009) that control or administer buildings and have responsibility for maintenance as part of the overall asset management of their portfolio.
